Music GCSE
GCSE Music is addressed using three seperate methods:
- Analytical Skills - 40%
(Written / aural paper - Externally Assessed) - Performing Skills - 30%
(One Solo. One Group - Externally Assessed) - Composing Skills - 30%
(Two Pieces - Internally Assessed)
The GCSE Music Syllabus provided by the WJEC is centred around the following Core Units:
- Music in Wales
- Musical Structure
- Music for Stage & Screen
- Musical Evolution
Students will study the specific musical content influences for each unit.
Requirements
In accordance with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as set out by the Government, GCSE's are a Level 2 Qualification (Grade 5 Equivalent).
Whilst experience & previous qualifications are not essential, due to the level of the qualification students must be able to perform to a minimum Grade 3 standard and understand relevant language.
GCSE Music is conducted in one-to-one sessions
