Rockskills Music Workshops
We have been running these since long before Mayzmusik even existed!
And now Every Year Mayzmusik holds a Rockskills workshop.
Here, Students are welcome to take part in learning how to come together to play in a band instead of the usual solo practising done at home.
It is a great opportunity to learn new skills and make new friends!
Rockskills Summer Workshops 2009
Mayzmusik will run "Rockskills" during the Summer school holidays, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 4th, 5th, & 6th August 2009. The course will finish as usual with a free concert on the Thursday evening, featuring performances from the whole group, solo and any other ideas put forwad during the 3 day course. Anyone is welcome to come, best suiting ages 8-18.
A reasonable command of your instrument is required as the idea is not to teach the instruments to be played, but to be able to come together and perform in a live situation!
What are the Aims of the Workshop?
- To enable students who have one-to-one tuition and normally play alone to experience being in a group situation
- To understand the needs and requirements of their fellow musicians and to be sympathetic and helpful towards them
- To gain confidence in their own abilities as a musician, however limited their experience may be
- To gain confidence and ultimately enjoy the experience of playing in public
- To understand the safety requirements and discipline involved in being on stage playing to a live audience
Through these workshops we have formed various groups in the past where students are able to get together during the workshop and to create a miniature set to perform at the evening concert.
Whether it’s a three piece, four piece, five piece band or solo act, there are plenty of opportunities for students to show off their skills to the tutors and to parents and friends.
There will also be a percussion workshop run exclusively by Mayzmusik’s own drum tutor which is to be incorporated within the three day course. This will give students a unique chance to show off and to improve their rhythmic skills as rhythm is always the most important part of music, no matter what instrument you play!
The best few of the group will be able then to perform a piece at the concert based on percussion.

The fee for the 3-day workshop is £40.00, cheques to be made payable to Mayzmusik.
The evening Concert on the final day is free admission for all.
These workshops are always very popular with Mayzmusik so please book early to avoid disapointment.
