The Saturday "School of Rock" Band Workshop
After many years of successful "Rockskills" workshops in Abergavenny , run in school half-terms, we decided to set up a more regular workshop to run every Saturday morning from 10-12pm during the school term.
Run by James and Lewis of Mayzmusik, the Saturday School of Rock has proved highly successful and ever popular, with regular members returning every term and new faces wishing to join whenever there are spaces available. We are now into our forth year of running the workshop and have many song titles in our current repetiore, such as:
- Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams

- Learn to fly - Foo Fighters
- Local boy in the Photograph - Sterophonics
- Inside - Stiltskin
- Starlight - Muse
- About a Girl - Nirvana
- Folding Stars - Biffy Clyro
- Comfort in sound - Feeder
- Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
and many many more.
What is the Aim of School of Rock?
The workshop is aimed at those students who already have a reasonable understanding and command of their instrument, as this is not designed to tutor the individual instruments, but to teach the students to learn group arrangements and how to cooperate in a band.
We are occasionaly able to take the School of Rock out to perform in public so that they get a chance to show off their new found skills and gain ever valuable experience of having to deal with live situations.
How can I join and how much is it?
We are often taking on new members and regular enquiries, You can join by asking for an application form from us please see contact details and the charge is only £35 per half term (6 weeks), per student!
